"In an archaeal world – Extremophile is not always the rule"

The phylogenetic assignment of archaeal communities is constantly evolving, and the recentdiscovery of new phyla that grouped into superphyla has provided novel insights into archaeal ecology and evolution in ecosystems. Firstly considered as old extremophiles Bacteria, we now know that Archaea are one of the three domains of life (that we considerat this moment). Present and active in all types of ecosystems from ocean to your belly button, they play a crucial role in the biogeochemical cycles. Let’s talk about some examples from methane to mercury cycle.
